“A Inventive and imaginative poetic experience.” -R. P. I.

Kaleidoscope Vision
Defining Life through Poetry & Prose

Out of the Blue; By Author David Anthony, is an unconventional abstract poetic work of art laced with quirky, conscious and stylish originality! The Author's sleek, encrypted writing style uses peculiar smilies and free-flowing thoughts to construct realistic scenes that seem to capture a particular incident or moment in time. It is interesting, intriguing, with a surrealistic, perhaps, even uncanny ambiance appearing from time to time.

Select poems exploit poignant concepts of satire to relay stories and/or convey ideas that frequently use personification to represent human characters and personality traits. Like the poem, Black Bird. Although this poem references to the main character as a ‘sooted sparrow’, readers may interpret the sparrow as only a symbolic representation of a damsel in distress, notwithstanding the fact that poetry is known to be subjective.

Nevertheless, in this case, you may find yourself exercising the tool of imagination over intellect; as you will read about newfangled romantic circus love affairs in alluring poems like, Portia; and try your best not to clench your teeth when you are reminded of how the trees have hung and tasted more flesh than just that of the tasty ripened fruits, in his macabre poem, ‘The Hanged Man’.

And briefly moving back to the topic of writing style, we would also like to point out the Author's exceptional ability to deliver such an intense story in only a few lines! We found this technique quite impressive, considering the fact that most of his short-length poems never lacked creativity and still contained quality plus substance.

We can use the poem, Sanctuary/Sidewalk Pomegranate, as the perfect example. Remember when we used the words, uncanny and mysterious, earlier in the review? Well, this particular evanescent poetry account will ensure you never let go of your child's hand in public, or better yet, let them out of your sight, period.

It tells us of an unnamed girl who somehow separated from her mother while out in the public. In a matter of seconds, in the blink of an eye, the girl lands in the unsettling arms of a strange man. And though the poem didn't say what the stranger's intentions actually were, the man didn't seem at all eager to seek help.

In addition to his compelling poetry collection, the Author also includes some short stories, with one of our personal favorites being; The Endurance of Wood.

It is a short narrative about a nice woman named Joanne, who explains to her husband, Richard, the vague memories of discrimination she experienced in her childhood because of her father being African-American. In spite of this, her nostalgic voice makes it obvious she is drawn to the connection of her family, and the house her mom grew up in. It was an old, generational, unkempt farm house, and after the unfortunate passing of her relative, she is granted possession of the home she had always heard many stories about.

Joanne, reluctant at first to consider such a responsibility, decides to go visit the house for herself; and while rummaging through some of the home's old leftovers, discovers a uniquely crafted book constructed from the skin of an elm tree. Hence, the title of the story - Endurance of Wood. And though at first it only seems to be a Holy Bible, once she reads some of the old writing in Exodus, she learned it was much more...

Well, our fantastic journey has finally come to an end, and in summary, we can say, there is much one can take away from this book! Stories that enhance your overall reading experience, and innovative poetry distinguished from ordinary. At one point, you almost feel as if you have somehow slipped into the Author's dreams, daunting in fields of poppies, entangling with exotic words under the ominous glow of ‘colorless rainbows’. Superior work, your talent is radiant!

We rate Author David Anthony's, Out of the Blue, 5 Stars!

5 Star Review By Realistic Poetry International – Author Joy Elan’s

5 Star Review By Realistic Poetry International – Author Joy Elan’s
 ‘Silence Is Not Always Golden: THE POWER OF SPOKEN WORDS’

 “Bold; written with honesty and love!” - Realistic Poetry International

Author Joy Elan’s impacting ensemble of poetry was an in-depth and intimate account of a woman’s uncensored emotions. She freely releases all of the feelings she has about some of the struggles and challenges she visualizes in the world. Educated, determined, and inspired; her poetry begins by bluntly relaying her thoughts concerning the burden of financial debt derived from higher learning.
We would like to point out one of the poems entitled, ‘Institutional Freedom’; a poem that vividly depicts her emotions towards college and how obtaining a degree has affected her life, ironically, negatively, rather than in a beneficial manner as advertised.

Such an incredibly significant realization inspires a certain controversy surrounding the world of education and college, especially in the media, which questions the very idea that ‘to acquire a degree will guarantee a sure door to opportunity’. And Elan doesn’t sugarcoat her thoughts on this topic when she says;

“I’m a prisoner of an institution
Not the prison system
But institution of higher learning
They got me tied down and bound
I can’t be free
They keep coming after me financially
Even with the degrees.”

In spite of the world-wide idea that a degree grants you access to more success and a focused career, Elan explains a contrary perspective that certainly catches your interest and even spikes some concern, as she compares the term ‘institution’ to that of an institutional prison. Nonetheless, considering Elan’s explanation behind her financial and career vexations, you are able to connect on a social and personal level.

Moving forward, we would like to also note the candid direct approach the Author confidently demonstrated throughout her writing. This courageous element of her personality helped eliminate any possible room for confusion, making each poems meaning easy to interpret and clear to understand. And in this case, understanding is key; as the voice of Elan is surely the centerpiece that vocalizes the acute energy channeled from this outstanding work of poetry!

In like manner, Author Elan speaks out against more social imbalances than just the seemingly corrupt educational institutions she believes to be harboring the pockets of righteous citizens and students. In her poem entitled, ‘No Value’, she goes on to explain her perspective on how the core values of people have been crisscrossed and turned upside down.

In the poem, ‘No Value’, prizes and luxurious possessions that many hard-working citizens strive for everyday such as; quality BMW’s, extravagant beautiful two-storied homes, high-priced designer clothes and jewelry, or fancy technology, through the eyes of Elan, is quickly steeping folks into inescapable debt, thus, adversely impacting the true ‘value’ or worth of anything seemingly ‘owned’ or even rented. We felt this was one of the books strongest poems, emphasizing the importance of true traditional values, in contrary to millennial fleeting trends.

Smoothly transitioning, Elan’s poem entitled, “Door to her Heart”, is an enchanting poem about learning to let your guard down and trust again when stepping into the realm of love. Softly exposing a graceful romantic side of herself, this poem tells the story of a heart that dares to unite, revealing a deep desire to establish a romantic relationship.

To conclude, sensing the Author’s deep appreciation and drive for life, it is easy to understand why she has decided to go against the grain, by breaking the code of silence, avidly voicing her vision of truth, path to peace, leading to victory and freedom. We can be sure that with wisdom as her compass, she will always remain ten steps ahead, evading hazardous snares, while using the power of her words to guide the spirit of others.

Author Joy Elan, this book was an amazing collection that truly defined the word, poetry, speaking volumes for the future; and after reading this book, it is ever-clear to us as to why it has been so difficult for you to find someone to pay you for your worth; for you are truly priceless!

5 Star Review by Realistic Poetry International Book: Time On Hand by Author Dennis Ferado

5 Star Review by Realistic Poetry International

Book: Time On Hand by Author Dennis Ferado

5 Stars

“Potent and beautifully emotional.”
-Realistic Poetry

In this book, Ferado effortlessly articulates the unfeigned exclamation his heart holds for his family and friends with poise and finesse. Poem after poem, you are naturally convinced to read more and more, and for more than one reason!
Throughout the entire book, Ferado’s writing ability is never limited to one subject, topic, or thought; nor does it divulge any signs of lackluster; rather it is tantalizing, exploring the exotic and profound diversity of words through different classic writing techniques. A great example of this is his poem entitled, ‘Sweet Breeze Over Strawberry Fields’. Ferado replaces recycled monotonous phrases with fancily intricate locutions such as:
“Simmering essences of wishes and dreams…”
“Inhaling scents of naked flowers…”
and, “calming tense flayed nerves enrapturing the mind…”;
much like state of the art verbal innovation when it comes to the idea of creation and quality.
We cannot write this review without illuminating one of our favorite poems, entitled, ‘Grandma’; which is a poem and exclusive tribute that reminds us all of why grandparents are so near and dear to our hearts.
Each verse possesses such candor, displaying Ferado’s grand love and utmost respect for a very special woman in his life; his grandmother. And he makes it as clear as unadulterated crystal that she played an extremely relevant role in his life, especially in his childhood years. In one part of the poem he writes:
“Grandma was the only one who ever loved me free
There were no strings attached to the love she gave to me”;
an obvious indication that he and his grandmother had established a solid and resilient relationship bonded by the precious elements of blood…and love! Indeed, this poem was comfortably relatable, and even included a vintage-like photograph of him as a child, along with the wonderful woman (his grandmother) he loves. It was a lovely dedication and triggered feelings of smiles and tears.
But wait, there is more. Pushing past the definition of ordinary, Ferado defines the poem, ‘Grandma’, even more by including a statement which expressed some of his grandmother’s most valuable wisdom and advice, which we will tell you, is truly priceless and could be used for ages! And though we would love to share her words of wisdom with you, we will leave you with something to look forward to and won’t ruin the surprise.
All in all, Time on Hand, was a pleasant and elaborate read! You anticipate to read great poetry, but this book actually gives you so much more. Poems that take you back in time, unfolding treasured pressed memories. Emotional written passages of detailed narration vividly supporting and intensifying the meaning embedded within each poem. Simply put, Author Ferado is a superb writer, and we have now also learned through his writing, that he has an endearing heart of gold!
Time on Hand, is a literary novelty for poetry, and definitely deserves a 5 star rating, and accolades!
